Trump Pushes Putin for Swift End to Ukraine War

US President Donald Trump expressed his desire for a swift end to the war in Ukraine during a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. According to the Kremlin, such a step would allow for the full restoration of relations between the US and Russia.

Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov said the leaders discussed the results of the recent visit by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv, which both men assessed positively. Putin also gave Trump his assessment of the situation on the battlefield and emphasized that Russia had no hostile plans toward Europe.

During the conversation, Trump emphasized that an early end to the conflict would immediately open up far-reaching prospects for developing trade and economic ties, bringing enormous benefits to both countries. According to Ushakov, the US president hopes to achieve a breakthrough before the end of his term, an approach supported by his Russian counterpart.

Although the envoys are working to revive stalled talks and have raised the possibility of trilateral negotiations between Russia, Ukraine and the US, Ushakov did not elaborate on the issue. He added that the leaders had agreed to continue prisoner exchanges, described the conversation as constructive and confirmed that they remained in regular contact.
