Norway's Princess Astrid, Sister of Late King, Dies at 94
Norwegian Princess Astrid, the elder sister of the recently deceased King Harald V, died on Friday at the age of 94. According to Sky News, the Norwegian Royal Palace announced the news in an official statement.
The princess made her last public appearance just days before her death, on Wednesday, when she attended her brother's funeral at Oslo Cathedral.
King Harald V died last month at the age of 89, after more than 35 years on the throne. His state funeral marked the end of a 13-day period of national mourning and was attended by members of royal families from around the world, including the British Prince of Wales, the new monarch King Haakon VIII, Queen Mette-Marit and Queen Dowager Sonja.
In a statement, King Haakon VIII emphasized that throughout her long life, Princess Astrid had represented the royal house with warmth and devotion.
