Billionaire Gives Farage's Party Record £36m Donation

Nigel Farage has secured unprecedented financial support for Reform UK. Cryptocurrency billionaire Ben Delo donated £36m ($48.7m) to the party, which, according to available data, is the largest single donation to a political party in British history.

Delo said he wants to allow Reform UK to compete on equal footing with traditional political parties and to focus more on preparing for a potential takeover of the government. The funds amount to £1m ($1.35m) per month through the latest possible date for a general election in 2029, though the billionaire provided the full sum in advance.

The donation comes at a sensitive time, as Reform UK's funding faces increased scrutiny. Delo himself has been involved in a legal dispute in the United States. The co-founder of the BitMEX exchange was convicted of violating a US law related to anti-money laundering measures. He was later pardoned by President Donald Trump. Farage noted he is pleased with Delo's confidence in the party.
