Russia Says It Struck Ukrainian Port and Steel Mill

The Russian Ministry of Defense said its forces struck two cargo ships in the Ukrainian Black Sea port of Chornomorsk during nighttime attacks, according to a report by the Interfax news agency. Moscow added that the attacks also targeted several major industrial facilities in Ukraine.

The Russian side claims that the Zaporizhstal steelworks in Zaporizhzhia, the Interpipe Steel complex in Dnipro and several plants in Kryvyi Rih were also hit, including the Northern Iron Ore Beneficiation Works, which processes iron ore.

The extent of the damage and any potential casualties are not yet known from the published statement. The information comes exclusively from the Russian ministry of defense, and Reuters says it has been unable to independently verify Moscow's claims.
