9/11 Families Press Trump to Declassify Documents

The families of the victims of the September 11 attacks used the 25th anniversary of the tragedy to renew pressure on President Donald Trump. They are demanding that his administration release unredacted documents regarding Saudi Arabia's possible ties to some of the hijackers, according to Fox News.

The memorial service also featured sharp criticism of previous US administrations, which, according to the bereaved families, prioritized relations with Riyadh over the families' efforts to obtain complete information.

Attention is focused primarily on contacts between Saudi citizens Omar al-Bayoumi and Fahad al-Thumairy and two of the future hijackers.

The 9/11 Commission documented these ties but found no evidence that the Saudi government or its senior officials supported the attacks. Saudi Arabia has repeatedly denied any involvement.

However, the families point to new investigative materials and developments in a related civil lawsuit. The White House says Trump has already authorized the declassification of hundreds of pages of documents but has not publicly and unequivocally commented on further disclosures.
