Pope Leo XIV Greets Rome's Jewish Community

Pope Leo XIV sent greetings to the Roman Jewish community on the occasion of the important holidays of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot. In a telegram to Rome's chief rabbi, Riccardo Di Segni, he expressed his hope that the coming days would bring blessings, joy and inner peace to the faithful, according to EWTN News.

The pope specifically mentioned the significance of each holiday. According to him, Rosh Hashanah can bring hope for a new beginning and renewal, Yom Kippur can provide a space for peace and inner light, and Sukkot can bring joy, gratitude and fellowship.

Pope Leo XIV also emphasized his respect for the Jewish community and that of the entire Catholic Church. He expressed hope that the mutual friendship between Christians and Jews would continue to grow not only in Rome but also throughout the world. He concluded his message with the traditional Hebrew greeting "Shalom aleichem".
