Russian Drone Strikes Hit Ukrainian-Polish Border

A Russian drone strike hit an area near the Ukrainian-Polish border, close to the town of Yahodyn, on Saturday night. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha clarified his original statement, noting that the strike was not directed at the border crossing itself but at its immediate vicinity.

He described the attack as a continuation of Russian terror right at the gates of the European Union and NATO. A spokeswoman for the Polish border guard confirmed that the impact site was located approximately 800 m from the Polish border, and the border crossing was temporarily closed for security reasons.

In the neighboring Volyn region, Ukrainian Railways reported another incident in which a Russian drone struck the locomotive of a passenger train just 2 km from the Polish border. According to a statement from the railways, the attack resulted in no casualties or injuries.

The border crossings in this area are key transportation hubs for Ukraine, through which most Western military and humanitarian aid flows into the country.
