Trump Blames Ukraine Strikes for Oil Price Surge

During a visit to his golf resort in Ireland, US President Donald Trump called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to stop drone attacks on Russian oil infrastructure. According to Trump, the strikes are causing a global fuel shortage that is directly harming the world economy.

He pointed out that record-high gasoline prices in the US, which have exceeded $6 per gallon, are not the result of the situation in the Middle East but rather the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The Ukrainian side has long defended its long-range attacks on Russian refineries as legitimate military targets, while facing constant strikes on its own energy infrastructure. However, successful strikes by Ukrainian drones have significantly curtailed Russian production and export prospects for 2026 and 2027, with oil production in Russia falling to a 17-year low.

Trump emphasized that he had discussed the issue with Zelensky and asked him to have the Ukrainian military focus on other targets.
