Poll Shows Left with Narrow Lead in Swedish Election

Swedish center-left parties, which support Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson for the post of prime minister, held a preliminary lead of 51.3% in Sunday's parliamentary elections, according to a poll by SVT.

A separate opinion poll conducted by TV4 on election day also showed the center-left in the lead.

Although Swedish exit polls often indicate the final result, they have not always proven accurate. For example, in 2022 an exit poll predicted that Andersson's bloc would win, but the election was ultimately won by a right-wing coalition led by Ulf Kristersson, who is now Sweden's prime minister.

A victory by the right-wing bloc would bring the far-right Sweden Democrats into government for the first time. They are polling at 17.2% in SVT surveys.
