Russia to Suspend Gas Supplies to Armenia
The Armenian subsidiary of Russian energy giant Gazprom announced on Monday that natural gas supplies from Russia to Armenia will be temporarily suspended for ten days, from 16 to 26 September, while scheduled maintenance is carried out on a pipeline in Russia.
Gazprom Armenia said supplies during the shutdown would be replaced by domestic gas reserves and additional volumes from Iran.
Landlocked Armenia is heavily dependent on Russia for energy. Russia supplied around 82% of the country’s natural gas last year, according to Interfax.
