Trump Announces Russia-Ukraine Energy Truce

US President Donald Trump said Ukraine and Russia had agreed not to attack each other’s energy targets. He wrote that Kyiv had agreed to halt strikes on Russian energy infrastructure and that Moscow would do the same.

Trump also attributed the rise in diesel fuel prices to the war in Ukraine rather than the conflict between the United States and Iran. He provided no details about the agreement between Kyiv and Moscow.

Turning to Iran, Trump said Tehran wanted to make a deal “quickly and badly”. He added that the United States was open to engaging in such an effort, but that he had yet to decide whether it would do so.
