Ukraine Launches Offensive Near Lyman
A Ukrainian army unit has begun pushing back against Russian forces near Lyman, an embattled town in eastern Ukraine where intense fighting has continued throughout the four-and-a-half-year war.
“The 3rd Army Corps has launched an offensive operation called Vivaldi in this sector”, its commander, Andriy Biletsky, said in a video on Telegram.
Ukrainian troops have reportedly made small territorial gains north of the town. Capturing Lyman could allow Russian forces to sweep south and threaten the Ukrainian-held cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.
