US War With Iran Has Cost $38bn

The six-month US war with Iran has cost $38bn so far and is projected to cost another $3bn a month, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reported on Tuesday.

Based on expenses through 1 August, the CBO estimated that the war would increase inflation by 0.5% in the first three months of 2027.

The mounting costs have strained US munitions stockpiles and driven up energy prices, raising concerns about the country’s ability to respond to other potential conflicts and adding pressure to an already stretched federal budget.

Most of the costs stem from the rapid depletion of munitions, according to the CBO, which estimates that replenishing US stockpiles could take five years.

The analysis was conducted at the request of Pennsylvania Representative Brendan Boyle, the top Democrat on the House Budget Committee. “Donald Trump’s disastrous war in Iran has already taken the lives of brave American servicemembers and left others wounded”, Boyle said.(Reuters, im)
