FBI Uncovers New Details on Trump Gunman

US Attorney General Todd Blanche said the FBI has uncovered new information about Thomas Matthew Crooks, the gunman who tried to assassinate Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in 2024.

Federal records reviewed by journalists reveal that Crooks had packages delivered under the pseudonym “Bob Dole”, the name of the late Republican senator and presidential candidate. The records also show that he bought parts and tools from Amazon to increase his rifle’s capacity.

Crooks, who was killed by a Secret Service counter-sniper after opening fire, was cremated shortly after the attack. According to the records, an anonymous donor paid for the cremation, which reportedly came as a surprise to his family.

Following the disclosures, Trump alleged that the assassination attempt was a Democratic plot to remove him from the 2024 election and criticized former FBI Director Christopher Wray. Investigations have found that Crooks acted alone and have produced no evidence that Democrats were involved.

Blanche said investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the attack, in which one spectator was killed and two others were seriously injured.
