Trump Adviser Says Iran War Could End Soon

Massad Boulos, US President Donald Trump’s senior adviser on Arab and Middle Eastern affairs, told Euronews that Trump expects the war in the Middle East to end soon and is working to bring it to a close.

Boulos declined to give a timeline, saying the timing would be up to Trump. “But we are very hopeful, and we are absolutely solidly behind him and behind his leadership”, he added.

Resolving the nuclear issue is a condition for ending the war, according to Boulos, who reiterated that Washington would not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon. He described Trump as patient in pursuing negotiations but firm on the issue, adding that the president’s regional partners supported his position.

Once the war ends, the administration intends to resume efforts to expand the Abraham Accords, a process he said was disrupted by the 2020 re-election campaign.

Turning to Washington’s relations in the region, Boulos described the Gulf states, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan as close partners and allies, with coordination taking place at multiple levels of the US administration.

“These are true partners. They are true allies. He has an excellent relationship, including a personal relationship with them, and an excellent rapport and chemistry with these leaders”, according to Boulos.
