OpenAI Unveils Legal AI Model
OpenAI has introduced Astra for Law, a new artificial intelligence offering designed for lawyers, law firms and legal technology companies.
The service uses GPT-6 Astra Law, combining specialized instructions for legal analysis and writing with a new Legal Search Index.
The index searches US case law, statutes, regulations, court rules and administrative decisions, with new sources added daily. It is designed to help lawyers move from the facts of a case to relevant legal authorities and passages, which they can then verify independently.
OpenAI is also launching legal plugins from partners and the community. Astra for Law will initially be available to selected US law firms through Trusted Access in ChatGPT and Codex, with API access to follow.
