Trump Bans CNN, MS NOW and Politico from White House
US President Donald Trump on Friday said he was banning CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House, accusing the three news outlets of reporting what he called “fake news”.
“Media Outlets shouldn't be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America”, Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow.”
Trump has repeatedly urged broadcasters to drop comedy or news programs he dislikes or that have joked about or criticized him or his administration. He has also called on the Federal Communications Commission to strip stations of their licenses after criticizing their news coverage and other programming.
Last year, Trump banned the Associated Press from the usual pool of reporters covering his movements because the news agency did not adopt his preferred name for the Gulf of Mexico. He had instructed executive branch employees to refer to it as the Gulf of America.
