Turkey Ready to Aid Saudi Arabia Against Houthis

Turkey is prepared to provide military assistance to Saudi Arabia amid attacks by the Yemeni Houthis. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced this on Saturday, citing a defense agreement between Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

"They may have some military needs, especially on some technical issues. We would have no issues in meeting these", Fidan said.

The trilateral agreement signed last month stipulates that an armed attack on any one of the signatory countries is regarded as an attack on all three.

The Houthis have been attacking Saudi Arabia with missiles and drones since July, targeting cities, energy infrastructure and shipping. On Saturday, the rebels announced an attack on "sensitive" targets in Riyadh.

Fidan called it unacceptable for Saudi Arabia to be drawn into a war between the US and Iran. He added that new proposals to end the conflict had been presented to the warring parties.
