Macron Seeks Gas Supply Deal with Canada

French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday welcomed the start of a new phase in relations with Canada after the two countries agreed to strengthen their ties.

He explained that bilateral talks are beginning on how Ottawa could support Europe on energy.

"Canadian liquefied natural gas projects can help. They are important for Europe and will help open up new opportunities between our two countries", Macron said.

Macron added that he and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney have begun bilateral talks on very specific projects.
