Around 7,000 Humanoid Robots Sold Worldwide in 2025

Around 7,000 humanoid robots designed for industrial and professional service use were sold worldwide last year, according to data from the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).

The IFR defines a humanoid robot as one that resembles a human and can operate autonomously in an environment designed for people. It does not necessarily need to have legs.

Humanoid robots still account for only a fraction of the global robot market. In 2024, companies installed around 542,000 standard industrial robots, while an estimated 199,000 service robots were sold for use in areas such as transport, cleaning and hospitality.

Many of the humanoid robots sold in 2025 were not yet performing productive work. Instead, they were purchased by research institutions or companies using them to generate data for improving artificial intelligence models.

Bank of America Global Research estimates that 90,000 humanoid robots will be shipped this year and 1.2 million by 2030. The IFR figures exclude consumer and military humanoid robots, while medical robots are classified separately.
