US Networks Suspend White House Pool Coverage

All five networks in the White House television pool have stopped providing camera crews for President Donald Trump’s pool events after the administration barred CNN from carrying out its assigned duties. ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox News and CNN agreed to suspend their participation in the television pool, according to USA Today.

The decision means the shared television feed normally distributed to news organizations will be unavailable for most of President Donald Trump’s events. Although the White House will continue to provide its own feed, television networks generally rely on the independent pool feed for video coverage.

The move follows the White House’s decision to deny access to reporters from CNN, MS NOW and Politico. The three outlets have filed a federal lawsuit against Trump, arguing that the restrictions violate their First Amendment right to a free press and their right to due process under the 14th Amendment.

A White House official defended the restrictions, arguing that news organizations do not have an automatic right to access the Oval Office. Vice President JD Vance similarly said the administration was not banning media outlets but denying them special access.
