Gaza is being destroyed by the collapse of the banking system. Hamas is said to be murdering people for exchanging money
According to Palestinian-American activist Ahmed Fouad Al-Khatib, Hamas carried out public lynchings in the Gaza Strip.
A video he posted on the X platform allegedly shows residents of the city of Khan Yunis being beaten and executed for allegedly charging high fees for exchanging electronic money for scarce cash.
According to him, Hamas is attempting to maintain control over money in the region. The activist also claims that civilians are being forced under threat to applaud and approve of the violence.
The incidents are taking place against the backdrop of the collapse of the banking system in Gaza, where the blockade and shortage of Israeli shekels continue.
Banks have been destroyed and there is no electricity or internet. Many residents therefore rely on unofficial intermediaries, who often retain half of their wages as commission.
According to Al-Khatib, Hamas kidnaps, beats and murders money changers who compete with it.
