Poland has launched preventive air operations against Russian drones

Poland has launched preventive air operations by its own and allied forces in response to the growing threat posed by Russian drones on the Ukrainian-Polish border. Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on social media that the airspace above Lublin Airport has been closed and the army has activated all necessary defensive measures.

Polish and allied aircraft and air defense systems are on high alert. Poland recorded up to 19 cases of airspace violations by Russian drones this week.

Although Russia denies any deliberate attack, NATO has already announced a reinforcement of the alliance's eastern flank defenses. US President Donald Trump described the incident as a possible mistake, but Poland and its allies in the EU and NATO consider the situation a serious provocation.

According to the army, the aim of the Polish measures is to protect the population and secure control over its own airspace.
