Erika Kirk becomes new head of Turning Point USA after murder of husband

The widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was murdered on a university campus last week, has been unanimously elected as the new executive director of Turning Point USA.

Erika Kirk will now take over the organization her husband founded to mobilize young voters for Republican causes.

In a video message, Erika Kirk announced that she would continue her husband's mission: to win young Americans over to conservative values and the Christian faith.

The leadership committee said Charlie Kirk had built the movement in such a way that it could withstand even the greatest trials. With Erika at the helm, the work would now continue.

Tyler Robinson, 22, is accused of firing the fatal shot during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10.
