Trump rejects Israel's annexation of the West Bank

US President Donald Trump stated that he would not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. This was in response to pressure from right-wing Israeli politicians who want to extend their sovereignty over this area and destroy any hope of a Palestinian state.

Trump emphasized that “this will not happen” and pointed out that “it is time to stop.” His comments came after several Western countries, including France, Britain, and Canada, recognized Palestine as a state. Israel strongly rejects this and is continuing to expand settlements, including the controversial E1 project, which would cut through the occupied territories.

The US president's statement came immediately before Benjamin Netanyahu's appearance at the United Nations. However, the Israeli prime minister plans to respond only after his return to the country.

At the same time, the US presented a 21-point peace plan for the Middle East, which is intended to end the nearly two-year war in the Gaza Strip and facilitate an agreement on hostages. According to local sources, the conflict has already claimed more than 65,000 Palestinian lives, and parts of the area are suffering from famine.

Israel is becoming increasingly isolated as Italy and Spain have sent warships to support a fleet attempting to break the blockade of Gaza.
