Soros Foundation rejects investigation into alleged support for terrorism
The Open Society Foundations (OSF), funded by billionaire George Soros, has dismissed alleged investigations by the US Department of Justice as a “politically motivated attack.”
According to the New York Times, the department is considering charges against the foundation for supporting terrorism or other crimes. OSF stated that its activities are peaceful, legal, and aimed at promoting human rights, transparency, and education.
The organization warned that this is an attempt to silence civil society and restrict freedom of expression.
Attorney General Pam Bondi did not comment directly on the information, but noted that “everything is on the table.” The reports come at a time when President Donald Trump is promising to crack down on “domestic terrorist networks” that he believes are funded by left-wing groups. This follows the assassination attempt on conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Trump has repeatedly named the OSF and Soros personally as sources of alleged funding for protests and violence. He had previously signed an executive order designating the Antifa movement as a “domestic terrorist organization.”
