A third French journalist has been killed in Ukraine; the attack is under investigation

French photojournalist Antoni Lallican was killed in a drone strike in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine. The incident occurred on Friday morning, according to Ukrajinska pravda.

Lallican was 37 years old and was working on site wearing a protective vest clearly marked “Press.” Ukrainian journalist Heorhij Ivančenko was also injured. The circumstances of the incident, which occurred on Friday morning, are still under investigation.

The chairman of the National Union of Journalists, Serhiy Tomilenko, said that this is the third French journalist killed by Russia since the start of the invasion in the war in Ukraine.

The deceased reporter worked with several international websites, including Der Spiegel, Die Welt, Mediapart, and Le Monde.

He received the Victor Hugo Prize for a photo series on Ukrainians, was shortlisted for the 2024 Lucas Dolega Prize, and was the favorite of the jury for the 2022 Grand Prix Paris Match Etudiant.
