USA: Another ship destroyed off Venezuela, attacks on the mainland also possible

According to President Donald Trump, the US Navy struck another ship off the coast of Venezuela on Saturday that was allegedly transporting drugs. The president also announced that the United States could extend its fight against smugglers to the mainland.

Trump left open whether this was the same attack that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had previously announced. However, according to the information available, it was at least the fourth operation in recent weeks in which four people were killed.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro responded with a video on Telegram in which he described the US action as aggression and promised that his country would defend itself. At the same time, he called for diplomatic support – not only from Russia, but also in a letter to the Pope.

Meanwhile, Hegseth confirmed in an interview with Fox News that he had received the necessary approvals for attacks in the Caribbean.
