Russia announced that it would respond immediately with its own measures in the event of an American nuclear test. This information was confirmed by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

According to him, Russia has determined that the US has been preparing its infrastructure for such tests for some time.

Russian President Vladimir Putin already stated in October that Moscow would respond with its own test if another nuclear power were to conduct such an experiment. The RIA Novosti news agency reported that Putin was aware of a planned nuclear test by a country whose name he did not wish to disclose.

The United States conducted its last nuclear test in 1992.
