BBC suspends LGBT training following ruling on the significance of gender

The British public broadcaster BBC has suspended some diversity training courses on LGBT issues, reports the daily newspaper GB News.

The reason for this is a decision by the UK Supreme Court in April that the term “gender” in legislation refers to biological sex and not gender identity.

The BBC is currently reviewing its training materials to ensure they comply with this interpretation. While two training courses have been withdrawn, others, such as “BBC and You” and “Inclusive Leadership,” have been revised, with passages on pronouns and self-identification removed.

The BBC claims that this is not a retreat from its promotion of inclusion, but rather a legal revision of the content. The final changes will be made after the government guidelines are published.
