EU wants to support peace in the region – mission on the border between Gaza and Egypt to be resumed

The European Union will resume its civilian observer mission at the border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt on Wednesday. This was announced by EU Foreign Affairs Representative Kaja Kallas, who explained that the Union wanted to contribute to securing peace in the region.

“Ensuring peace in the Gaza Strip will be extremely difficult,” she wrote in a post on Platform X.

The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has been in effect since Friday and is the result of diplomatic efforts by the US, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey. On Monday, the exchange of prisoners between the two parties to the conflict began.

US President Donald Trump declared during his trip to Israel that the war in the Gaza Strip was over. The President of the United States will also speak in the Israeli parliament and then travel on to a peace summit in Egypt, where further steps to stabilize the region are expected.
