Trump: Putin showed interest in ending the war, Tomahawks are being discussed

A joint meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took place in Washington on Friday.

At a press conference prior to the talks, Trump indicated that Putin was interested in ending the conflict. He mentioned Hungary as a possible location for a summit with him, as both have good relations with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

Trump confirmed that during his meeting with Zelensky, they would discuss the possible delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine as well as further military aid. However, he hoped that the war could be ended without the use of these weapons, as the US did not have sufficient stocks either. He reiterated his conviction that both sides were striving for a peace agreement.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine needed a ceasefire, security guarantees, and significant military reinforcement, including long-range missiles, as it mainly had drones at its disposal. The Ukrainian president stressed that he trusted Trump's support and hoped that the talks would bring progress toward a peaceful solution.
