The AfD achieved a record result in polls and overtook the CDU/CSU

According to a poll by the INSA agency, the German party AfD has reached its highest approval rating ever at 27 percent, putting it ahead of the CDU/CSU for the fourth week in a row, reports the daily newspaper Bild.

Compared to the 2025 federal elections, it has improved by more than six percentage points, while the conservatives have lost three points and currently stand at 25 percent. The SPD is stagnating at 14 percent, while the Greens have fallen to 11 percent.

Given the high number of votes for parties outside parliament (12 percent), a parliamentary majority could already be achieved with 45 percent of the vote.

However, the current coalition led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU/CSU) currently only has 39 percent.
