The Louvre Museum had to be closed, and the Minister of Culture confirmed the theft

The French Ministry of Culture reported a theft at the Louvre Museum in Paris on Sunday. The incident occurred in the morning, allegedly shortly after the museum opened. Culture Minister Rachida Dati reported the theft on social network X.

She added that she had personally visited the scene and that the relevant authorities were already investigating the details of the incident.

Due to the incident, the Louvre has decided to close for the entire day, according to France 24, which it confirmed on its official website, citing “exceptional reasons.” So far, it has not been announced what exactly has disappeared. The Reuters news agency reported that several thieves had stolen jewelry from the Napoleon collection.

The museum is the most visited and one of the most famous in the world. In terms of exhibition space, it is the third largest in the world.
