UK participates in Gaza mission and supports US stabilization efforts

The United Kingdom has sent a small group of military planners to Israel to join the US initiative to stabilize the situation in the Gaza Strip.

The British officers, including a commander, have joined the newly established Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC), which is intended to support the implementation of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

The center is intended to monitor security in the region and coordinate international stabilization efforts, but its exact structure and legal status have not yet been agreed upon.

The US plans to send up to 200 soldiers, who will not be deployed directly in Gaza, and is negotiating with other countries such as Indonesia, Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar.

According to the British Ministry of Defense, the UK has “specific experience and expertise” in this area, which it has offered to support the peace process. The team's deployment came at the request of the US.
