A man who was planning a jihadist attack was arrested in Berlin
A man has been arrested in Berlin whom security authorities believe to be involved in planning a suicide bombing.
According to information from the daily newspaper Bild, the man is Abdalla R., whom police found in possession of materials suitable for manufacturing explosives. He is said to have ordered some of the components online.
The special unit intervened in the Neukölln district. The suspect is said to have three residences in the city and was taken into custody after his arrest and brought before a judge.
According to the information available, the police are also investigating the man's connections to the Islamic State organization. The suspect is said to have repeatedly shared jihadist propaganda on social networks.
The police did not provide any further information about the possible target of the attack. The man appears to have enjoyed subsidiary protection in Germany since 2023, although it is unclear whether the tip came from a foreign intelligence service.
