Zelensky: There will be no place for corruption in the energy sector

In a speech on Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky strongly stated that anyone involved in corruption in the energy sector must face legal consequences.

He was reacting to an ongoing investigation into allegations of bribery in the energy sector. He stressed that it is imperative that convictions are handed down and that punishments must be fairly applied.

He also drew attention to the importance of the nuclear operator Enerhoatom, which accounts for the largest part of the country's electricity production. According to Mr Zelensky, the company must be run transparently and without any corrupt practices.

He believes that the cleansing of corruption is crucial not only for the energy sector, but also for all sectors of the economy.
