Unpleasantness at the Louvre: a Belgian couple smuggled their own painting into the museum

In another unusual incident at the Louvre, Belgian couple Neal and Senne smuggled their own painting into the museum and hung it in the same room as the Mona Lisa on display for admiration, according to the Sun. The pair used a lego frame, which they dismantled and hid the parts in their pockets to pass through security.

After their bag was checked, they folded the painting, framed it and hung it on a free wall in the room. All this happened shortly before the museum closed, with the pair discreetly slipping away immediately after the "installation." Although the museum stressed in response that these were not prohibited items, they plan to take legal action.

Meanwhile, the duo routinely do similar stunts. They have previously made it onto the red carpet in Venice or hidden in a stadium in Munich.

The incident came just a month after thieves stole more than $100 million worth of jewelry from a French museum. Police have already charged four people in the case. The jewels have not yet been found and experts warn that they have probably already been broken into smaller pieces and will not be collected in their original form.
