Slovak MEPs were included in the first league of Russia supporters
Slovak MEPs from Smer and Republica are among the strongest core of the bloc in the new European Parliament with a positive attitude towards Russia, writes Euobserver.
An analysis of 14 votes on Russia and Ukraine shows that the Smer delegation, which grew from two to five members after the elections, rejected 12 resolutions. After his election to the European Parliament, MEP Lubos Blaha visited Russia twice and also met Russian intelligence chief Sergei Naryshkin.
The support for Russia is even stronger among the MEPs of the Republic movement. Its leader, Milan Uhrík, now deputy chairman of the ESN faction, is among the very top of the list: he votes against or abstains on all the resolutions on Russia, Ukraine and Belarus that are under scrutiny.
The portal also recalled Uhrík's visit to Minsk, Belarus, which he described as "cleaner than Brussels", and his calls for normalisation of relations with Moscow.
