Moscow closes Polish consulate in Irkutsk, reacts to Warsaw's move

Russia plans to close the Polish consulate in Irkutsk in direct retaliation for Poland's move to revoke the permission of the Russian consulate in Gdansk.

The measure is due to come into force on 30 December, and the Russian foreign ministry has already handed over an official note to the Polish ambassador.

Warsaw announced its decision only recently - the Russian consulate in Gdansk is due to close on 23 December.
