Trump's message to Iran: Keep protesting. Help is on the way.
US President Donald Trump has once again put pressure on the Iranian regime by publicly calling on Iranians to continue protesting and suggesting that "help is on the way." However, he did not specify what he meant by this.
He also indicated that he had suspended all talks with Tehran until the "senseless killings" of protesters stopped.
Iran is facing the largest anti-government demonstrations in recent years, and according to local officials, around 2,000 people have already died during them. The White House chief also threatened 25% tariffs on goods from countries that trade with Iran.
Britain responded strongly, with Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper describing the crackdown on protesters as "brutal killings" and summoning the Iranian ambassador. London is preparing new sanctions and sectoral restrictions.
