Israel rejects Trump's plan for Gaza, objects to Turkey's role

The United States' decision on the composition of the executive board for Gaza has caused discontent in Israel. Tel Aviv criticizes Washington for not consulting with Israeli officials on the move, saying the board contradicts its policy.

The most significant stumbling block appears to be Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, whose involvement Israel has long rejected. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar intends to raise the issue with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The executive council is part of Donald Trump's broader plan to end the war in Gaza, the second phase of which envisages the creation of a transitional Palestinian administration.

A so-called Peace Council, a special body led by Trump, has also been set up to oversee this process. Its members include Jared Kushner and developer Steve Witkoff. However, it is not yet clear which parts of the plan exactly meet with Israeli opposition.
