Trump establishes Peace Council. He invited Lukashenko and Putin

US President Donald Trump has launched an initiative called the Peace Council, which he plans to lead as its lifetime chairman. He has invited more than 60 countries to join the new global platform for conflict resolution.

The council's initial goal is to oversee the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, but it plans to expand to other conflict zones. Membership will be for three years, but countries can obtain a permanent seat by paying $1 billion.

Trump has already gained the support of several states. The invitation was accepted by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko "welcomed" the invitation. According to the media, Polish President Karol Nawrocki was also approached.

The Kremlin confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had also received an invitation. According to a statement, Moscow is considering the proposal and hopes to establish contact with Washington in this regard.

The German government expressed its gratitude and said it would consider the form of its involvement. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed his willingness to play a role in the second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza.

Invitations were also sent to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jordanian King Abdullah II, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accepted the invitation without hesitation.

The council is also to have an executive body – among the appointed members are US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Jared Kushner.

However, the proposal has been met with caution and criticism. According to some diplomats, it is an attempt to create a "parallel UN," which could weaken the role of that institution. Trump, however, insists that it is a unique and pragmatic format for peace negotiations.
