Stolen equipment belonging to Norwegian ski jumpers at the Olympics has been returned
According to the DPA news agency, German police reported on Thursday that an unknown person had returned the Norwegian team's stolen ski jumping equipment shortly before the start of the Winter Olympics. According to the police, a package containing helmets, jackets, and goggles arrived at the Willingen Ski Club in Germany.
According to law enforcement officials, the package was apparently sent by one of two suspects who had previously contacted the police and the Norwegian team. It is not yet clear whether all the stolen items have been returned.
The theft occurred during the weekend's World Cup ski jumping competition in Willingen. An unknown perpetrator or perpetrators stole helmets, jackets, hats, gloves, and goggles from the team's storage room.
Jan-Erik Aalbu, sports director of the Norwegian ski jumping team, said on Wednesday that one of the suspects had contacted him by phone. He apologized for the theft and expressed concern about the consequences of his actions.
