Hannover, Germany, recommends books on gender identity to kindergartens
The German city of Hanover is facing criticism after sending a recommended list of books on gender identity and diversity to 41 municipal kindergartens, European Conservative has noted.
The list was compiled by a city network of queer employees led by the commissioner for sexual and gender diversity. According to the city council, the materials are intended for nurseries, kindergartens, and after-school clubs.
The discussion was sparked mainly by specific titles. Among them is the book Körper sind toll, which deals with physical diversity, and the publication Untenrum: Und wie sagst du? which focuses on naming intimate body parts and children's physical self-awareness. For older children, the recommended book is Me and My Dysphoria Monster, which addresses the topic of gender dysphoria in the form of a story.
Similar activities are also taking place elsewhere in Germany. In Berlin's Reinickendorf district, for example, a state-supported art school offers drag courses for teenagers.
