Starmer: Britain must strengthen its military and be prepared to fight
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized at the Munich Security Conference that both the United Kingdom and Europe must strengthen their "hard power." According to him, it is necessary to be able to deter aggression and be prepared to fight if necessary. "Hard power is the currency of today," he said, adding that Europe must stand on its own two feet.
Starmer also assured allies that London's commitment to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty is "as strong as ever." According to him, Britain will come to the aid of any ally if asked to do so.
The prime minister also indicated a willingness to seek closer economic cooperation with the European Union. According to him, London should explore opportunities to move closer to the single market in certain sectors and support a new generation of cooperation in the defense industry. Deeper economic integration is in the interests of both sides, according to Starmer.
