Starmer after phone call with Trump: Putin's attacks are barbaric
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with US President Donald Trump on the phone about key foreign policy issues – the war in Ukraine, the situation in the Gaza Strip, and tensions surrounding Iran.
According to Sky News, Downing Street said Starmer again condemned Russia's attacks on civilians and talked with Trump about ways to achieve a just and lasting peace.
The conversation followed on from the current negotiations in Geneva, where the US delegation is discussing with Iran and representatives of Ukraine and Russia.
In the case of Gaza, the British Prime Minister emphasized the need to maintain humanitarian aid and supported the US-led peace plan. Both leaders also agreed that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
Although Tehran, according to its foreign minister, has agreed to the basic principles of a possible agreement, Washington points out that not all conditions have been met.
Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are continuing, and the US side is talking about "meaningful progress."
