Russia suspends flights to Iran and Israel after Tel Aviv attack
Russia has temporarily suspended flights to Iran and Israel after Israel announced a pre-emptive strike on Iranian targets. Moscow responded to the closure of both countries’ airspace and, according to the Ministry of Transport, took steps to protect passengers and crews.
Russian airlines, in co-operation with the authorities and the aviation regulator Rosaviatsiya, have prepared alternative routes to maintain services to countries in the Persian Gulf. However, the new routes will be longer and more logistically demanding.
The Russian authorities have not indicated how long the restrictions will remain in place.
