Israeli opposition leader: Netanyahu met none of his war aims
Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid said on Wednesday morning, after the announcement of a ceasefire between the US, Israel and Iran, that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had not met ‘a single one’ of his war aims.
‘In all our history, such a political disaster has never happened,’ he wrote on X, adding that ‘the army has fulfilled everything that was asked of it, the public has shown amazing resilience, but Netanyahu has failed politically, failed strategically and has not fulfilled a single one of the goals he set for himself.’
Netanyahu’s office, however, backed the ceasefire, saying that ‘Israel supports President Trump’s decision to suspend strikes against Iran for two weeks subject to Iran immediately opening the straits and stopping all attacks on the US, Israel and countries in the region.’ The statement added that the arrangement ‘does not include Lebanon’.
