Israel to Purchase F-35 and F-15 Fighter Jets in Multi-Billion Deal
Israel has approved a plan to purchase two new squadrons of F-35 and F-15IA advanced fighter jets from US manufacturers Lockheed Martin and Boeing, in a deal worth tens of billions of shekels.
The defence ministry said the aircraft will be key to maintaining Israel’s strategic air superiority in a changing security environment. The decision follows lessons from the recent conflict with Iran, which Israeli officials said underscored the importance of air power in national defence.
Once the acquisitions are completed, Israel is expected to operate around 100 F-35 jets and 50 F-15IAs. Deliveries will take place gradually over the coming years.
Defence Minister Yisrael Katz said strengthening the military is essential to preserving security and technological superiority in the future.
